Pompano Beach, Florida
The day after our big trip at Wakoahatchee, we visited Pompano Beach. There's a large raised wooden platform there that permits fishing. Likely because of this, a group of brown pelicans were hanging out near the fishermen, hoping to get some easy food.
Behold, the peliloaf. This one is a juvenile brown pelican.
A royal tern. It took me a while to understand what the old guy with the camera was saying the day before, but on this day I figured out how the automatic focus worked. Apparently when the camera will focus on whatever's in a small window in the top left of the camera, instead of what's directly in the center. With that in mind I was able to start taking better shots.
Of the brown pelicans on the area, there was about a 50/50 split between the browner juveniles and these beautiful golden-headed adults.
