Champlain College, Burlington, Vermont
Unlike most of my trips, this wasn't for a particular location but for an occasion - in this case, a solar eclipse. Studying in Burlington at the time of the eclipse, I was very lucky - I didn't have to move at all to be within the zone of totality!
A shot of the eclipse in totality. I had my camera ready and planned things out two days in advance, and was still floored by the quality of the shot I was able to get.
Another shot of the eclipse, slightly different. Zoom in on this image and look for a thin band of color surrounding the Moon - in most of the shots I took, that band of color was red, but here it was blue! The little gaps in the Moon's otherwise completely round silhouette are easily explained by its craters, but I've got nothing for why color would warp in such a strong way in these photographs.
After taking what must have been several dozen shots of the eclipse, I quickly snapped a bit of the surrounding sky, with the college's characteristic beaver weather vane. Very, very dark out.
