Perkins Trail, Burlington, Vermont

The last time I went down to the Burlington coastline, I visited the pier and didn't go much farther. This time, I walked the whole 2.4 mile trail that heads into the city outskirts. This has been my closest trip to the winter season to date.

I was surprised to find an army of geese covering the beaches, preparing to migrate south. Only a few geese in this picture though, mainly showing off some of the other birds that also attended the festival. There are seagulls, but if you look closely on the right you'll see a pair of common mergansers.

This stuff was simply incredible to watch, and I remember sitting down on a big rock and just vibing with the geese for a good 20 minutes. I was in bliss.

A wider look at Goose Extravaganza. Those dots you see in the distance are all geese too. If I had to estimate how many geese were here, I'd say several hundreds - maybe even a thousand!

After continuing along the trail, a train rolled into view before stopping right where I was, and I took a few pictures of the grafitti on it.
